George P. Cosmatos's Western, written by Kevin Jarre, follows Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers Virgil (Sam Elliott) and Morgan (Bill Paxton) into the Arizona silver town of Tombstone, where the gambler Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer) stands with them against the Cowboys of Curly Bill Brocius (Powers Boothe) and Johnny Ringo (Michael Biehn) at the O.K. Corral and after; Dana Delany plays Josephine Marcus, Charlton Heston the rancher Henry Hooker and Robert Mitchum narrates. Hollywood Pictures released it through Buena Vista in December 1993. Waltham watch

Worn by Kurt Russell as Wyatt Earp. The watch is a replica rather than a Waltham: Bonhams' "Pop Culture: Then & Now" online sale (Los Angeles, closing 15 December 2023) sold Russell's sheriff's ensemble as lot 177, a black felt Stetson marked "Mr. Russell", a Harry FitzGerald shirt "and 1-replica Waltham silver metal pocket watch with back and front hinged covers and no watch bezel, on a heavy link chain", the three pieces "Used throughout the Western as components of 'Wyatt Earp's' (Russell) signature Sherriff's costume", with "A dent on the front cover of the watch". The lot title calls it a stopwatch; the essay and photographs show a hunter-cased pocket watch with a white Roman-numeral dial and seconds register, engraved covers and a curb chain. Bonhams had first sold the group at its Rock and Roll and Film Memorabilia sale (London, Knightsbridge, 24 May 2006) as lot 335, "a Linen Shirt worn by Kurt Russell, Hat, Replica Schofield Pistol, Pocket Watch and Replica Winchester Rifle ... All used by Kurt Russell", which named no maker for the watch; the 2023 essay supplies the Waltham design basis and the replica status, and neither names a model.
