Wasp Network (2019)

From IMWDb
Wasp Network

Wasp Network dramatizes the true story of the "Cuban Five," a Cuban intelligence network embedded among anti-Castro exile groups in 1990s Miami. (Wikipedia) Written and directed by Olivier Assayas from Fernando Morais' book The Last Soldiers of the Cold War, the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival on 1 September 2019 before a Netflix release on 19 June 2020. Édgar Ramírez plays defector pilot René González, alongside Penélope Cruz as his wife Olga, Wagner Moura as fellow pilot-turned-defector Juan Pablo Roque, Gael García Bernal as Gerardo Hernández and Ana de Armas as Ana Margarita Martínez.

Watches

Rolex GMT-Master
Worn by Wagner Moura as Juan Pablo Roque. Montres de Luxe identifies Roque's watch as a Pepsi-bezel Rolex GMT-Master, visible in a handful of shots, but hedges the identification: it reads closer to a contemporary Tudor Pepsi than a period-correct Rolex. The film's own dialogue calls it a Submariner with a blue dial (not a GMT-Master at all) and prices it at $8,000, an amount Montres de Luxe flags as roughly four times the watch's real early-1990s value, near $2,000, a detail the outlet blames on the production's unfamiliarity with watches. A closing title card notes that, in real life, a financially struggling Roque resold this GMT Pepsi on eBay. (Montres de Luxe)
