Atom Egoyan's mystery drama for ThinkFilm, adapted from Rupert Holmes's novel. The film alternates between 1957, when comedy duo Lanny Morris and Vince Collins are at the height of their fame, and 1972, when journalist Karen O'Connor sets out to solve the fifteen-year-old death of a young woman found in their hotel suite. Kevin Bacon stars as Lanny alongside Colin Firth as Vince and Alison Lohman as Karen. (IMDb)
Watches
- Hamilton Ventura
- Worn by Kevin Bacon as Lanny Morris. The Ventura is the shield-cased electric watch Hamilton launched in 1957, Richard Arbib's asymmetric wedge and the first wristwatch to drive its balance from a battery. Half the film plays out in 1957, at the height of Morris and Collins's fame, so watch and year arrive together; the credit names no reference. - Hamilton Linwood Viewmatic
- Worn by Colin Firth as Vince Collins. Montres de Luxe names Colin Firth's Vince Collins as the wearer of a Hamilton Linwood, one of two contemporaneous articles from the outlet that each credit the same watch to a different actor: a companion piece instead names Alison Lohman's Karen O'Connor, below, leaving Hamilton's own credit list, which places a Linwood beside the production without specifying the actor, unresolved either way. The Linwood Viewmatic was the round automatic carrying that name at the time; no reference narrows it further. (Montres de Luxe; Hamilton)Scene image neededSubmit a scene still!
- Hamilton Linwood Viewmatic
- Worn by Alison Lohman as Karen O'Connor. A separate, companion Montres de Luxe article instead credits journalist Karen O'Connor (Alison Lohman) with a Hamilton Linwood, in tension with the outlet's own article above crediting the same watch to Colin Firth's Vince Collins; neither piece narrows a reference, and the two credits are not reconciled here.
