Akira Hamura: The World's Most Unfortunate Private Investigator (ハムラアキラ~世界で最も不運な探偵, Hamura Akira: Sekai de Mottomo Fuun'na Tantei) is a seven-episode NHK Drama 10 series that premiered January 24, 2020, adapting Nanami Wakatake's long-running "Akira Hamura" detective novels for television for the first time. Kavka Shishido stars as Akira Hamura, a 34-year-old part-time bookstore clerk who moonlights as an investigator for the Polar Bear Detective Agency her employer runs as a joke, stumbling into misfortune on nearly every case and earning her the show's ironic title. The series opens when Hamura's estranged sister Suzu (MEGUMI) pressures her into taking an overseas trip, only for a woman's body to be found in the mountains carrying identification in Hamura's own name, drawing Hamura into a conspiracy against her own life stalked by a mysterious man played by Jun Murakami.
