Checkmate Lawyer (法廷のドラゴン, Hotei no Dragon, literally "Dragon of the Courtroom") is a TV Tokyo Friday-night legal drama that ran for eight episodes from 17 January to 7 March 2025. Mone Kamishiraishi stars as Tatsumi Tendo, a former competitive shogi player who abandoned her run at the professional ranks and is taken on as a trial-basis attorney by Kotaro Fuda, played by Mahiro Takasugi, a young lawyer struggling to keep his late father's failing practice open; Tendo applies the multi-move calculation of shogi to reading courtroom outcomes.
