Kansai Television and Fuji TV's Kekkon Dekinai Otoko follows Shinsuke Kuwano, a talented but incorrigibly antisocial 40-year-old architect who lives alone, insults clients without noticing, and resists every attempt by his mother, neighbor, and colleagues to see him married. Hiroshi Abe stars alongside Takashi Tsukamoto, Reiko Takashima, Ryōko Kuninaka, and Yui Natsukawa; the original season ran twelve episodes from July to September 2006. Fuji TV brought the cast back thirteen years later for a direct sequel, Mada Kekkon Dekinai Otoko ("He Who Still Can't Marry"), which aired from October to December 2019 with Kuwano now 53 and still single.
