Shining Girls

Silka Luisa's adaptation of Lauren Beukes's 2013 novel ran for eight episodes on Apple TV+ from 29 April to 3 June 2022. Elisabeth Moss plays Kirby Mazrachi, a Chicago Sun-Times archivist whose reality keeps shifting years after an attack that left her for dead, and Wagner Moura the reporter Dan Velazquez who helps her trace the killer; Jamie Bell is Harper Curtis, the killer who moves through the decades, and Madeline Brewer recurs as Klara Meiser, Harper's girlfriend in the years after the First World War. VIP Fan Auctions sold the watch in its Shining Girls sale (lot 24) as "Klara Meiser's (Madeline Brewer) Screen Used Prop Set" with the Old Sparrow whiskey bottle: when Klara and Harper (Jamie Bell) break into Britta's home "they hear the watch beeping", dig it out of a drawer, and Harper steals it to give to Klara. Received from Media Rights Capital with a studio certificate. The catalogue names no maker; the lot photographs show a gold-tone Seiko LCD watch with its red Seiko box, SEIKO and WORLD TIMER ALARM printed on the face, the world-map display with sixteen city codes and the module code A239 at the display's lower left.
