Toei Company's Space Sheriff Gavan (Uchū Keiji Gavan) aired on TV Asahi for 44 episodes from March 5, 1982 to February 25, 1983, and launched the Metal Hero Series. Galaxy Federal Police officer Gavan, whose Earth identity is high schooler Retsu Ichijoji, dons a powered battlesuit to fight the criminal organization Makuu and its leader Don Horror, becoming the first of Toei's "Space Sheriff" trilogy.
