The Crown

Peter Morgan's drama about the reign of Elizabeth II, produced by Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television for Netflix, recasts its royal household every two seasons: Claire Foy, Olivia Colman and Imelda Staunton play the Queen, Matt Smith, Tobias Menzies and Jonathan Pryce Prince Philip, and Josh O'Connor and Dominic West Prince Charles, with Emma Corrin and then Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, Princess of Wales. Bonhams' "The Crown Auction Online" (London, closing 8 February 2024) sold Diana's holiday outfit as lot 423, "Elizabeth Debicki (as Princess Diana): A top and striped trousers ensemble, Season 6, Episode 1, 'Persona Non Grata'": "A navy and white top with 'GL' embroidered centre front by Guy Laroche, a pair of vertically striped trousers, a Michael Kors gold and diamanté rectangular-face watch, and a cream leather bag by Tod's", the ensemble "As seen in the leaving Castle St. Thérèse and the arriving at Kensington Palace scenes" of Diana's summer with Dodi Fayed. The lot photograph shows a gold-tone rectangular case with crystal-set flanks, a white dial with gold Roman numerals and the Michael Kors name, on a gold-tone link bracelet; the essay names no model.
