Final Fantasy XVI is an action role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix. It was released for PlayStation 5 on June 22, 2023. (Square Enix) Creative Business Unit III built the game under producer Naoki Yoshida with Hiroshi Takai directing, Kazutoyo Maehiro as creative director and writer, Masayoshi Soken composing, and former Devil May Cry designer Ryota Suzuki setting the real-time action combat; Windows and Xbox Series X/S versions followed in September 2024 and June 2025. The story is set in Valisthea, a land of six nations drawing power from Mothercrystals, and follows Clive Rosfield, sworn protector of his brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Eikon Phoenix.
