Rare's 1997 Nintendo 64 adaptation of the Bond film, widely credited with proving the first-person shooter could work on a console. Bond's watch is the interface itself: pausing raises 007's wrist, and objectives, inventory, and gadgets are all read off the watch face, so the player spends more time looking at it than at any other object in the game. Its four-player split-screen made it one of the N64's defining releases. (Wikipedia)
Watches
- Omega Seamaster Professional 300M
- Worn by Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. Bond's Q-branch watch is the game's entire interface: pausing raises his wrist, and the dial becomes a green computer screen carrying objectives, inventory, laser and detonator. The design descends from the film the game adapts, where Brosnan wears the quartz Omega Seamaster Professional 300M 2541.80 (see GoldenEye (1995)), and a Bond-franchise reference describes the game's watch as "bearing close resemblance to the Omega Seamaster Professional Diver 300M". The N64 model is unbranded and too coarse to resolve a reference from the work itself, so this stays a real-adjacent appearance of the Seamaster Professional 300M line rather than an exact identification, and the game establishes no licensed Omega placement.
