Missile Command is a shoot 'em up arcade video game designed by Dave Theurer and released by Atari, Inc. in June 1980. The player uses a trackball to defend six cities from incoming ballistic missiles by firing anti-ballistic missiles from three bases, and the game's Cold War premise made it a critical and commercial success before Atari ported it to home systems, beginning with a 1981 Atari 2600 conversion.
