Pac-Man (1980)

From IMWDb

Namco and Midway's 1980 U.S. sales flyer for the original Pac-Man arcade game.

Pac-Man is a maze arcade video game planned by Toru Iwatani and released by Namco in Japan in 1980. The player guides Pac-Man through a maze, eating Pac-Dots while avoiding four ghosts. (official PAC-MAN history; Bandai Namco Studios) Iwatani conceived the game as a non-violent alternative to the shooters that dominated the arcades, and Namco released it in Japan on 22 May 1980 before Midway Manufacturing brought it to North America that October. Large flashing power pellets briefly turn the four ghosts vulnerable, and the maze repopulates through progressively faster levels; the cabinet became one of the most commercially successful arcade machines ever built.
