Touken Ranbu Online is Nitroplus and DMM Games' free-to-play browser and mobile game, launched in Japan on January 14, 2015, in which players take the role of a saniwa who brings legendary Japanese swords to life as human-form touken danshi ("sword men") to defend history from time-traveling revisionists. (Wikipedia; official site) The property has since spawned anime series, stage plays, and a film, and individual swords have inspired licensed merchandise collaborations, including two Seiko quartz wristwatches and, separately, three generations of Kanazawa Kaga makie lacquer pocket watches, all sold through the PREMICO online shop.
