Breitling Montbrillant
More actions
The Breitling Montbrillant is the line Breitling built in the 1990s as a smaller, more period-faithful counterpart to the Navitimer, named after the Montbrillant district of La Chaux-de-Fonds where Léon Breitling set up in 1892. Where the modern Navitimer had grown, the Montbrillant returned to a tighter case of around 38 to 40 mm and to the visual grammar of the 1940s Chronomat: the circular slide rule on the bezel, a beaded bezel edge, and dials with a deliberately vintage typography. (Breitling)
The line's complications are its interest. The Montbrillant Datora adds a full calendar with pointer date and day and month apertures to the slide-rule chronograph, so the dial carries a calculator, a chronograph and a calendar at once, which is about as much information as a wristwatch can display before it stops being readable. Later Montbrillants included the Olympus, the Eclipse with its moonphase and the in-house Montbrillant 01.
