The Casio G-Shock G-9000-1V is the black Mudman of July 2006, the Master of G – Land model whose Mud Resist construction seals the case against dust and grit rather than against water pressure alone. Casio wrote the brief around motor-sport mechanics, engraved a mole on the back cover, and ran the watch on module 3031. (Casio; G-Central)
Two features follow from that brief. The dual illuminator lights the LCD and the dial from separate electro-luminescent panels, so the watch reads under a car, not only in the dark; and two independent stopwatches let one time the race while the other times the pit stop. Within Master of G the Mudman takes dust and mud; the Gulfman that followed in 2007 takes salt and rust. (Casio)
