Casio G-Shock GW9000A-1
More actions
The Casio G-Shock GW9000A-1 is the solar, radio-controlled Mudman: module 3050 in the case Casio had introduced with the battery-powered G-9000 in July 2006. Same shell, different engine, the GW substituting Tough Solar charging and Multi-Band 5 reception of WWVB, MSF, DCF77 and the two JJY transmitters for the cell. (Casio, 2011; Casio, G-9000-1V) What the watch does not do is measure anything except time. There is no altimeter, no barometer, no compass and no thermometer: the sealed button shafts, the mud gaskets and the radio are the whole proposition, and the Triple Sensor that now defines the GW-9500 Mudman belongs to a later chapter. Casio never gave the reference a launch date; Shockbase puts it at 2007, a year behind the G-9000 whose case it borrows. (Shockbase)
