The Casio G-Shock GX56BB-1 is the stealth-black revival of the GX-56 "King", announced in July 2016 at $150 after the solar GX-56 had been assumed discontinued for years. It keeps the generation's dimensions of 55.5 × 53.6 × 17.5 mm and 88 g, its mud-resistant resin construction and 200 m rating, Tough Solar charging, world time for 48 cities across 31 time zones, a stopwatch, a countdown timer and five daily alarms with snooze. What distinguishes the reference is finish rather than function: a matte black case and band with no painted lettering, a black ion-plated buckle, and a reverse LCD showing pale digits on a dark field beneath a full-auto EL backlight.
