The Citizen Aqualand is the analog-digital diver's watch Citizen introduced in 1985 with the reference C0023, the first quartz diver to build a digital depth gauge into the case rather than sell it as a separate instrument. A water-pressure sensor feeds the depth reading and dive-time measurement to a curved LCD screen at 12 o'clock, alongside a maximum-depth memory and a rapid-ascent alarm, while the analog hands keep ordinary timekeeping on the dial below; the asymmetric module housing the sensor bulges the case at 9 o'clock, the line's most recognisable feature. Renamed Promaster Aqualand in 1989, the watch continued into later Eco-Drive references such as the JP2000, which drop the battery for light-charging while keeping the same depth-gauge layout.
