Ebel Sport Classic Chronograph
More actions
The Ebel Sport Classic Chronograph is a chronograph Ebel launched in 1982 around leftover Zenith Calibre 3019PHC El Primero movements, which it rebadged its own Calibre 134 and left mechanically close to the Zenith original rather than reworking it the way Rolex did the same base for the Daytona's Calibre 4030. (Watch Brothers London) The 38 mm case carries five exposed bezel screws and a "wave" integrated bracelet, with the tachymeter scale set inside the dial rather than on an outer bezel ring and the Roman numerals at III, VI and IX trimmed to clear the subdials. Ebel sold the model in steel, steel-and-gold, and solid yellow gold, the yellow-gold execution numbered 8134901 in the line's seven-digit reference scheme. Ebel renamed the range "1911" in 1986 for the marque's 75th anniversary, so period and retrospective coverage describes the same watch under both names; a later, unrelated "1911 BTR" line with an in-house Ebel movement did not arrive until 2006.
