The Hamilton Everest is a 1958 model from the brand's pioneering Electric line, the world's first battery-powered wristwatch, launched in 1957. Like its better-known sibling the Ventura, the Everest was styled by industrial designer Richard Arbib in one of his space-age asymmetrical cases, here a 10-karat gold-filled shape that gives the champagne dial the illusion of breaking free of its bezel; it is signed "Hamilton Electric" and carries a red-tipped sweep-seconds hand. (Electric Watches; Worn & Wound) Hamilton's own historical film-credit page places an Everest on Robin Williams's Andrew Martin in Bicentennial Man (1999).
