The Hamilton Frogman is the canteen-crown dive watch Hamilton built under U.S. Navy Bureau of Ships contract starting in 1943 for Naval Combat Demolition Units and, later, the underwater demolition teams nicknamed "frogmen." A captive screw-down cap over the crown, soldered-in crystal, and a plain black "USN BUSHIPS" dial with luminous numerals were built for men who needed to read the time underwater and trust the case not to flood. Hamilton's own account credits the watch's 1951 public release with coinciding with its screen debut in The Frogmen, and the lineage continues today in the automatic Khaki Navy Frogman.
