The Hamilton Lexington debuted in Hamilton's July 1941 catalog as the brand's first wristwatch cased in stainless steel, a metal Hamilton had until then reserved for other product lines. Its round 28 by 36 mm case houses the 17-jewel caliber 980, a movement built for Hamilton's rectangular models and adapted to the round case here, and the watch was marketed as rugged enough "for military use" though never formally issued. Wartime rationing of strategic metals ended production after a single catalog year. (Everest Bands)
