IWC Aquatimer Split Minute Chronograph
More actions
The IWC Aquatimer Split Minute Chronograph reference IW372304, launched in 2004, is a professional diver built around a rare rattrapante complication. Its automatic Calibre 79470 (a much-modified Valjoux 7750 running at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 44-hour power reserve) drives a patented split-minute mechanism: a second chronograph minute hand can be stopped to mark a decompression stop or lap, then released to leap back onto the running counter without interrupting the overall count. The titanium case, some 16 mm thick, is rated to 120 metres and carries a mechanical internal rotating bezel for tracking dive time. Splitting the minute rather than the second made it unusually suited to staged underwater timing. (Monochrome)
