An Ingraham watch is a watch from the E. Ingraham Company of Bristol, Connecticut, founded in 1831 by the clock-case designer Elias Ingraham and run by his family until 1956. Long a clockmaker, the firm added watches in 1913. (Wikipedia) Its pocket models, such as the Pathfinder, were "dollar watches": simple to make, much in demand and sold for a tiny fraction of the price of a high-grade American watch. (National Museum of American History) That is the watch Robert E. Skinner puts in the pocket of the broke gambler Ralph Daniels in Daddy's Gone A-Hunting, set in New Orleans in 1938.
