The Oris Artelier Thelonious Monk Limited Edition is the 2015 instalment in Oris's series of jazz tribute watches, following the previous year's John Coltrane edition and limited to 1,000 pieces. Its 40 mm polished steel case frames a smoke-blue sunray dial with polished dots for the hours and no seconds hand. The dial hides a musician's joke: eleven minute markers sit between ten and twelve, a nod to Monk's dissonance, and the caseback is engraved "MONK ALWAYS KNOW", after the pianist's ring that read KNOW one way up and MONK the other.
