The Oris Modern Classic (reference 7490) is a dress watch from Oris, the independent Swiss maker, produced through the 1990s and 2000s. In contrast to the brand's dive tools it keeps a slim 36 mm steel case (about 39 mm across the signature red Oris crown), with a guilloché-patterned dial, a date at 6 o'clock and a centre sweep-seconds hand. A sapphire crystal covers the dial and an exhibition sapphire caseback shows the automatic Oris calibre 633, a 25-jewel movement built on an ETA base. Water resistance is a deliberately modest 30 metres, in keeping with its formal intent and leather strap. (Authentic Watches; WatchCharts)
