Seiko H558-5000
More actions
The Seiko H558-5000 is the analog-digital diver Seiko introduced in 1982, and the first diver's watch to work both displays at once: the quartz calibre H558 drives the hands and an LCD window set into the lower dial from a single movement, carrying a chronograph and an alarm inside a 150-metre steel case of about 45 mm on 22 mm lugs. The hybrid layout is the point rather than a novelty, giving a diver a legible sweep hand and elapsed digital timing without a second watch. Arnold Schwarzenegger wore one through his 1980s action pictures, which is where the collector name "Arnie" comes from; Seiko returned to the design in 2019 with the solar SNJ025, modelled on the H558-5009 variant.
