The Seiko Solar SNE057 is an entry-level model from Seiko's Solar quartz line, released around 2011: a 37 mm stainless steel case around the light-powered caliber V158, with a blue sunburst dial, luminous baton hands and applied markers, a framed day-date window at 3 o'clock, Hardlex crystal, and 30 m water resistance, sold on stainless bracelets including an expansion band. (Jomashop; Amazon) The V158 stores light from any source in a rechargeable cell, trading battery changes for a watch that simply runs, the plainest possible virtue, which is precisely how The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) uses it, dressing the 22-year-old Jordan Belfort's wrist before the gold arrives. Since discontinued, it survives as an inexpensive secondary-market piece.
