Seiko UC-2000
More actions
The Seiko UC-2000 is a digital "Wrist Information System" Seiko launched in 1984, one of the earliest wrist-worn computers sold to the public and a direct ancestor of today's smartwatch. A 4-bit CPU with 2 KB of RAM and 6 KB of ROM drives a ten-by-four character dot-matrix LCD, operated by four buttons on the resin case and stainless bracelet. The watch alone handles the calendar, calculator, and memo functions; docked into the optional UC-2100 cradle it gains a full QWERTY keyboard, and the UC-2200 cradle adds a spool-fed thermal printer alongside 4 KB more RAM and a 26 KB plug-in Application ROM pack running Microsoft BASIC, with further ROM packs sold for games and English-to-Japanese translation.
