The Seiko World Time 6217-7000 is Seiko's first world-time watch, made for 1964, the year Tokyo hosted Asia's first Olympic Games with Seiko as official timekeeper; examples given to officials and journalists carry an Olympic torch on the caseback. A steel case of about 37 mm holds the 17-jewel self-winding calibre 6217A with a quick-set date, and an inner ring of city names around a two-tone 24-hour track reads the time across zones. Dealers date its production to roughly March to November 1964, making it one of Seiko's shortest-lived 1960s references. (Watchsteez; Samurai Vintage Co.)
