The Shinola The Birdy is the women's line from the Detroit assembler founded in 2011 by Tom Kartsotis's Bedrock Manufacturing, the Fossil founder's bid at an American answer to Swiss watchmaking. The Birdy runs to a 34 mm stainless steel case 9.4 mm thick, with the coin-edge case flank and wire lugs that mark the house style, a double-curved sapphire crystal, a push-down crown, a caseback plate carrying a laser-etched serial number and a rating of 5 ATM. An Argonite 775 quartz movement drives it, and Shinola offers the line on three-link bracelets and straps in steel and PVD gold, hand-assembled in the company's Detroit factory from imported parts at around $750.
