The Swatch Jellyfish GK100 is the fully transparent Swatch from the brand's 1983 launch year: case, strap, and skeleton dial in clear plastic, exposing the 51-component quartz construction that was Swatch's whole argument: a Swiss watch simple enough to assemble by automation and cheap enough to treat as design rather than heirloom. Specialist Swatch archives record the Jelly Fish as the first Swatch special edition, and an example is in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, dated 1983. (MoMA; Swatch Vintage Collection) Swatch has reissued the transparent design repeatedly since, and clean 1983 originals are collector pieces.
