Swiss Time Chrono Quartz
More actions
An unidentified steel quartz chronograph, handed to La'an Noonien-Singh by Pelia and worn by Christina Chong in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2021). No dial printing resolves in the close-up, which shows a steel bracelet, a black bezel and a three-register black dial; the words in the descriptor are dial legends, not a maker's name. "Swiss" is a legally controlled origin claim, certifying where a watch was made, not who made it. (Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property) That dial code carries the episode: Pelia ties tritium to old divers' watches, notes that the glow died once the tritium ran out, and La'an follows the hands to a hidden cold-fusion reactor. Tritium's 12.3-year half-life is why an eighties dial has gone dark by the 2020s. (StarTrek.com)
