The Timex Ironman T5F591 is a 100-lap digital sport watch from Timex's Ironman Triathlon line, here in a yellow-and-black resin case on a Fast Wrap hook-and-loop strap. Alongside the chronograph, countdown timer, and lap-and-split memory expected of the range it carries two Timex signatures: the INDIGLO electroluminescent backlight, which glows the entire dial rather than lighting it from a single bulb, and Flix technology, a motion sensor that fires INDIGLO with a flick of the wrist so a runner never has to press a button mid-stride. It is rated to 100 m. The Ironman Triathlon debuted in the mid-1980s and spent much of the following decade as the best-selling watch in the United States, the mass-market benchmark for the digital sport watch. (Timex)
