Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711
More actions
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 is the steel, time-and-date Nautilus that became the defining hype watch of its decade. Gérald Genta drew the original Nautilus in 1976 as a luxury sports watch in steel — the porthole-shaped case with its "ears" at the sides, the integrated bracelet, and the horizontally grooved dial — and the 5711 carried that design from 2006, the blue-dial 5711/1A-010 running from 2012 until Patek discontinued it in January 2021. It is a thin automatic on a case a hair under 40 mm. The discontinuation set off the sharpest secondary-market spike in modern watch history — a roughly $55,000 watch trading past $130,000 within a year — the exact object of status and money-anxiety Succession reaches for.
