The Seiko 6309 is the automatic dive watch Seiko built from 1976 to 1988, the piece that set the house diver's look for a generation: a rounded cushion case whose crown tucks in at four o'clock, which is where the nickname "Turtle" comes from. It rates to 150 metres, shows day and date, and runs the calibre 6309, a workhorse automatic that could be wound only by wearing it — no hand-winding, no hacking — which is part of why it earned a reputation as nearly unkillable and affordable. It was Seiko's recreational diver for a dozen years, and the shape proved durable enough that Seiko revived it in the Prospex line in 2015. (Worn & Wound)
