A rescue mission to the bottom of the ocean is terrorized by a massive prehistoric shark. (IMDb) Directed by Jon Turteltaub and adapted from Steve Alten's 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror, the Warner Bros. release opened on 10 August 2018 as a United States–China co-production. Jason Statham plays deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor, called back to a Pacific research station run by Li Bingbing's oceanographer Suyin and funded by Rainn Wilson's billionaire Morris, after a dive beneath the Mariana Trench releases a surviving megalodon toward crowded water.
