The Timex Easy Reader is the plain analogue quartz line Timex launched in 1977 with a single design brief: legibility. Large full Arabic numerals and bold hands, both in high contrast to an uncluttered dial, were meant to be read at a glance from across a room, a layout Timex traces to the dials it drew as the Waterbury Clock Company. The family has run continuously ever since, across case sizes from about 25 to 38 mm on leather straps, expansion bracelets and fabric; a representative 38 mm version pairs a brass case with the Indiglo electroluminescent dial Timex developed in the early 1990s, at a list price under $80.
