Alfred Abel (1879-1937) was a German film actor, director, and producer who appeared in more than 140 silent and sound films between 1913 and 1938. He is best remembered for playing the authoritarian city master Joh Fredersen opposite Brigitte Helm in Fritz Lang's Metropolis, one of the defining works of German Expressionist cinema. (Wikipedia)
