Chieko Baisho (born 1941) has acted since 1961 and is best known in Japan for playing Sakura across the 48-film Otoko wa Tsurai yo (Tora-san) series from 1969 to 1995, working repeatedly with director Yoji Yamada. She also voiced both young and elderly Sophie in Studio Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle (2004) and sang its theme song. She plays 85-year-old Sumire Takano in Yamada's Tokyo Taxi (2025). (Wikipedia)
