Joaquin Phoenix (born 1974, San Juan, Puerto Rico) is an American actor who won the Academy Award for the title role in Joker after earlier nominations for Gladiator, Walk the Line and The Master. He played the corrupt subway repairman Willie Gutierrez in James Gray's The Yards, one of four collaborations with Gray. His work consistently favours damaged, morally compromised characters over conventional leading-man roles. (Wikipedia)
