Niels Arestrup (1949-2024) was a French-Danish actor who holds the French record of three César Awards for Best Supporting Actor, for The Beat That My Heart Skipped, Jacques Audiard's A Prophet, and Quai d'Orsay. English-speaking audiences know him as the kindly French grandfather in Spielberg's War Horse (2011); in Villa Caprice he plays Luc Germon, a celebrated lawyer defending a powerful businessman accused of acquiring a Riviera villa under dubious circumstances.
