Richard Attenborough (1923–2014) was an English actor and director, elder brother of broadcaster David Attenborough. The baby-faced killer of Brighton Rock and a scene-stealer in The Great Escape, he directed Gandhi to Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Director, then returned to acting as park founder John Hammond in Jurassic Park and Kris Kringle in the 1994 Miracle on 34th Street.
