Richard Harris was an Irish actor who became an international star with his Academy Award-nominated performance as rugby player Frank Machin in This Sporting Life (1963), which also won him the Best Actor award at Cannes. He earned a second Academy Award nomination for The Field (1990) and later played Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator (2000) and Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films. (Wikipedia)
