Takeshi Kitano is a Japanese filmmaker, comedian and actor born 18 January 1947, who built his acting career under the stage name "Beat Takeshi" while directing acclaimed films including Hana-bi (1997), winner of the Golden Lion at Venice. He broke through as an actor in Nagisa Oshima's Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (1983). As Beat Takeshi, he plays teacher Sugino Teruo in Dearest, opposite Ken Takakura's final performance. (Wikipedia)
