Dearest (あなたへ, Anata e, literally "To You") is a 2012 Japanese drama directed by Yasuo Furuhata for Toho, released 25 August 2012. Ken Takakura, in what became his final screen role before his 2014 death, plays Eiji Kurashima, a correctional officer who receives a posthumous postcard from his late wife Yoko (Yuko Tanaka) asking him to scatter her ashes in the sea off her Nagasaki hometown, and sets out on a roughly 1,000-kilometer solo journey across Japan to honor her wish. Takeshi Kitano, acting under his stage name Beat Takeshi, plays Sugino Teruo, a literature teacher Eiji meets along the way; Tadanobu Asano and Takahiro Miura also appear in the road movie's ensemble of encounters. Worn by Takeshi Kitano as Sugino Teruo. Jackroad's costume-loan coordinator singles out this loan as the rarest piece the shop has supplied to a production: a Tiffany & Co.-signed Patek Philippe Calatrava normally considered too valuable to lend, cleared only after special internal approval "because it was for the world's Beat Takeshi."
