William Petersen (born 1953, Evanston, Illinois) is an American actor who led the CBS procedural CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as forensic entomologist Gil Grissom for its first nine seasons, after earlier leading roles in Michael Mann's Manhunter and William Friedkin's To Live and Die in L.A.
