Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:序) is the first of Studio Khara's four Rebuild of Evangelion films, written and chief-directed by Hideaki Anno with Masayuki and Kazuya Tsurumaki and released in Japan by Klockworx on September 1, 2007, followed by 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance (2009), 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (2012) and 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (2021). It retells the opening of Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion: fifteen years after Second Impact, Shinji Ikari is summoned to Tokyo-3 to pilot Unit-01 for Nerv against the Angels beside Rei Ayanami in Unit-00, and the tetralogy later adds Asuka Shikinami Langley, Kaworu Nagisa and Mari Makinami Illustrious.
