Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (機動戦士ガンダム 逆襲のシャア) is a 1988 anime science-fiction film written and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino for Sunrise and released in Japan by Shochiku on March 12, 1988, the first original Gundam theatrical feature and the close of the rivalry begun in Mobile Suit Gundam. In Universal Century 0093, Char Aznable (Shūichi Ikeda) leads Neo Zeon in a plan to drop the asteroid Axis on Earth, and Amuro Ray (Toru Furuya), now flying the Nu Gundam for the Federation task force Londo Bell, fights to stop him.
